A construction laborer is a necessary position for all construction crews. This position will directly report to the foreman and will work directly with this foreman. Construction crews work on everything from excavation and drainage to interior remodeling and deck building. A laborer should be able to understand all aspects of the construction project from selecting materials to punch out check lists.
Be able to read a tape measure and accurately measure items
Be able to use all applicable tools proficiently
Keep tools, jobsite, and vehicles/trailers clean and organized
Be able to tell the difference in the materials used and be able to provide them to installer/foreman when required
Be able to understand drawings and read blueprints
Be able to cut materials accurately
Use all excavation hand tools when needed on jobsite
Install materials with the correct methods and quality
Be able to make repairs when applicable.
Be able to properly load machines and materials on trailers and safely haul these loads to the desired locations.
Be able to properly drive a truck
Understand how to layout projects
Properly “square up” projects
